Scripture - A Closer Look
If we look closely, there are many surprises in scripture. For example often the Jewish people are thought to be the entire representation of the nation of Israel. In fact the Jewish people (Judah or Yehudah in Hebrew) are only a single tribe of the twelve tribes which came from twelve tribes of the patriarch named Israel. Where are the other tribes? Perhaps you believe that they have all died off, or are irrelevant. Both could not be further from the truth. One point that you may be surprised at in scripture is that their remnant will continue to be scattered to the ends of earth until the period when YHWH’s kingdom is established. Leading up to this, these people will know who they are and will return to the land that was covenanted to Abraham and his seed. Today, the people of these tribes almost universally are unaware of their identities. You may well be an Israelite through your father’s male lineage. Today, only YHWH knows the individual identities of Israel.
There are dozens, or perhaps hundreds of surprising revelations which become apparent when scripture is studied methodically. Here are a few which this video series examines.
- Who is Israel? / Where is Israel?
- Is there one covenant for the Jew, and a second for the Gentile?
- Does our Creator really have “a name”? Is his name YHWH, YHVH, Yahweh, Jehovah, Yahuah? How is it pronounced and why?
- What does the word god mean? How does it relate to Elohim, or El? This name was a Germanic translation. But the word it replaced was Elohim from the root El.
- How could Moses be called a god (Elohim) to Pharaoh?
- What do the words LORD and Lord mean that I read in my Tanakh or Bible?
- Why did our Creator have Israel destroy the nations they entered when they left Egypt?
- How did circumcision become adopted among the Israelites?
- Beyond Joseph’s role in bringing Israel into Egypt, what lasting impact did he have?
- If the name of our Creator is not LORD, God, Dios, Theo, etc.., how did it come to be that these words came to be so universally acknowledged?
- What does scripture say about the keeping of the law (or Torah)? Did or will that requirement ever come to an end?
- Is the nation of Israel important anymore?
